Abstract (translated): This research attempts to present and analyze the levels of trust in institutions displayed by future teachers, teachers and headmasters. The research participants consist of undergraduate students from the Department of Education and Social Work Sciences of the University of Patras (Department of Primary Education), active teachers - teachers serving in public elementary schools of the urban center of the city of Patras, as well as headmasters of schools which located in the urban area. The current study has as stimulus the disturbance of trust relationships, in modern society, the trust relationship between the subject and the institutions. The research of trust is therefore considered to be an important field of study, especially if we consider the fact that the social, economic and political context in Greece has been characterized by liquidity in recent years, giving a particular burden to the term "trust". Furthermore, the reason for this research was the personal interest of the researcher, to explore the trust attributed to the institutions by populations who share perhaps common features or routes, in the light of the citizenship and the values of the Democracy. From the outset we have assumed that a possible lack of trust in institutions and in their representatives is very important. Lack of trust can be matched with the crisis of trust. A crisis of trust means a crisis of communication, a crisis of trust means a lack of social capital, a crisis of trust means a rupture of social cohesion. In addition, the criterion for choosing this study was the modern society of risk. Perhaps it has already been understood by some words - milestones how our theoretical background is to be established. However, we are arguing that our theoretical background is Jürgen Habermas' theoretical approach, with reference to points and extensive use, as well as for our analysis will be used his theoretical approach to communicative action and colonization of the lifeworld. In addition to Habermas, we are going to rely on both Anthony Giddens and Ulrich Beck on the concept of risk and especially the risk society. For social capital and for the purpose of exploring this field, as far as possible in the context of a thesis, we will refer to Robert Putnam, Francis Fukuyama and Alexis de Tocqueville. The just-mentioned thinkers are going to help us to best interpret some phenomena, with their approaches to function as a mortar in the main theoretical approach of Habermas. From February 2019 until April 2019, the sampling procedure was conducted. Analysis of levels of trust for these populations in institutions is of dual importance as not only the quality of the educational asset is affected, but at the same time it is of considerable significance for the political processes taking place within a democratic society, as well as for the citizenship. Through the quantitative approach, the research questions of each target population will be answered. The thesis consists of seven chapters, which contain theoretical and research data. The first (1st) chapter of the thesis refers to the problem of the study, its purpose, and its usefulness. In the second (2nd) chapter the risk society approach is outlined, and the term “trust” is extensively referred to. The relationship between trust and social capital is also presented. Afterwards, there is a review of international and Greek articles and bibliography related to the subject we are dealing with. We focus on the relationship of trust and education. Specifically, there is a separate reference to Higher Education and Primary Education. There is also a conceptual clarification of the terms risk, security, flexicurity, social capital and trust. The third (3rd) chapter consists of our theoretical framework. We justify the choice of Jürgen Habermas and then proceed to present his theoretical approach. We focus on communicative action, which is the framework of our analysis, on discourse and on the colonization of the lifeworld, which is considered as vital for our work as well as for the analysis of the findings. The fourth (4th) chapter refers to the methodology of the survey. In particular, the research questions are quoted, and the quantitative approach is discussed. In addition, we refer to the questionnaire, which was the tool for collecting research data, and then lists the advantages and disadvantages of using a questionnaire. We are talking about ethical principles in the research and we describe in detail how our research was conducted, as well as the data collection process. At the end of this chapter, we outlined the reasons why the present research is characterized by reliability and validity, as well as the limitations that exist. In the fifth (5th) chapter the data of the study is presented, starting with the characteristics of the sample of the research. The findings of the research are presented separately for the three populations, for the future teachers - undergraduate students at the Department of Education and Social Work Sciences of the University of Patras, the active teachers, as well as school headmasters located in the urban center of the city of Patras. Later, analyzes of the data are presented, which include correlations and regressions of the research data, again separately for each of the three populations. The sixth (6th) chapter contains the interpretation of the findings based on our theoretical framework and follows the discussion. The seventh (7th) chapter, last of this thesis, refers to the conclusions that emerged from our study. Proposals for future research paths are also outlined. This thesis is completed with the reference of the articles and bibliography studied and the appendices.
